I also just started reading Sandman. I am on volume two at the present. How the hell did it take me so long to pick this up? I’m not really a comic expert, so the “horror” aspects that draw from horror comics or the references to other works isn’t what makes it for me. It’s those moments when Gaiman’s writing shines through and becomes all its own. There’ve been two moments so far in which I’ve been totally floored.
